ShopTogether Privacy Policy

ShopTogether (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is a collaborative shopping-list app.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it,
and the choices you have. By using ShopTogether, you agree to this policy.
1. Who we are
ShopTogether is operated by Pradap Pandiyan.

2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use the app, we may collect:
- Account information — email address, username, name, password (stored hashed), and Google Sign-In identifiers if you choose Google login.
- Profile preferences — optional country and currency settings.
- App content you create — shopping carts, items, quantities, notes, assignments, status updates, and cart chat messages.
- Media you choose to provide — photos of items (if you attach them) and camera access for QR code scanning to join carts.
- Device and usage data — basic technical logs needed to operate and secure the service (for example, app requests, error logs, and approximate timestamps). We do not use precise device location.
3. How we use information
- To create and manage your account and authenticate you.
- To provide collaborative carts, item lists, member roles, sharing/join codes, and chat.
- To respond to support requests you send us.
- To maintain security, prevent abuse, and improve reliability of the service.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Sharing of information
We may share information only as needed to run ShopTogether:
- Other cart members — people you invite or who join your carts can see cart content, member names, and messages in that cart.
- Service providers — hosting and infrastructure providers that process data on our behalf (for example, cloud hosting for the API and database).
- Legal requirements — if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.
Google Sign-In is handled by Google under Google’s own terms and privacy policy
when you choose that login method.
5. Data retention
We keep account and app content while your account is active and as needed to
provide the service. You may request deletion of your account or content by
contacting support. Some residual logs may be retained for a limited time for
security and operational purposes.
6. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data,
including encrypted transport (HTTPS) and hashed passwords. No method of
transmission or storage is 100% secure.
7. Children’s privacy
ShopTogether is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required
in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Your choices and rights
- Update profile details in the app where available.
- Leave carts or stop using sharing features at any time.
- Request access, correction, or deletion of your personal data by emailing support.
9. International processing
Our servers and service providers may process data in countries other than
where you live. By using ShopTogether, you understand that your information
may be transferred to and processed in those locations.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated
version at this URL and change the “Last updated” date above.
